1980 saw a revolution in braking technology as Hitco introduced the first carbon braking system to Formula 1. Technological development since then has ensured carbon remains the only choice for braking material in the modern era of Formula 1. Through close collaboration with our teams and partners, Hitco has developed materials and cooling solutions that provide excellent modulation and consistently high friction coefficients regardless of weather conditions and in all race situations whether at demanding circuits such as Montreal and Monza, or less severe circuits such as Silverstone and Suzuka. Hitco has established itself as the leader in F1, developing braking materials that are used by the majority of the grid and brakes that were responsible for stopping the 2005 & 2006 World Champions Renault. |

2008 saw the continued success of Hitco carbon brakes in Formula 1. The latest generation of carbon that was introduced in 2001 has completed in every F1 race since; culminating in 320 points finishes, 75 podiums, 24 wins and 5 Championships. The exceptional durability and consistency of Hitco's brakes allows teams to race them at every event regardless of the weather conditions or the braking demands of the circuit. The 2008 season illustrates this with Lewis Hamilton's win in the rain hit Monaco and Fernando Alonso's back to back wins at the seasons heaviest and lightest braking circuits of Singapore and Fuji coming from the opposite ends of the braking spectrum. |
